Biography

Asimina Tours was created in 2005 and its founder is Stella Gressis. Stella was born and raised in Greece until her adolescence years. Once in the US, she graduated from the Boyd Travel School in Pennsylvania & immediately secured a position with the airlines. Since then she has continued to indulge her love of travel by working in the travel industry.

Throughout her career Stella has been to Greece every year and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Latin America, South America and Asia. Her experience in the travel industry, her appreciation for culture and her joy in planning vacations especially to Greece, has inspired her to create Asimina Tours.

Now, in its 6^th year of business Asimina Tours maintains its office headquarters in White Plains Maryland. In addition Asimina Tours has 2 branch offices in Greece. Our first branch office is located downtown Athens and our other branch office is located on the beautiful island of Santorini where the sunsets are the most arguably the most gorgeous in the world! Rest assured you will always have someone to contact from any of our locations in the USA and in Greece.

Note from Stella:

Asimina or Asimi means "Silver" in Greek. The company is named after Asimina Gressis (my mother) who is the owner of our 2 other successful businesses in the state of Maryland in the fields of Education & Food

Hello, my name is Lucianna and I can help you plan your trips to Greece and Turkey. As I love to travel, I decided to come from Brazil to the United States in 2007 for a cultural experience. I met Stella and her family at their restaurant "Ouzos". in La Plata. I have been friends with Stella ever since and after hearing her talk about her work, seeing her clients pictures, and listening and reading all their positive comments from their travel experiences, I have come to love the travel business! Just recently I came back from Greece and Turkey as well and I enjoyed exploring the different regions, food and culture. Now, I plan to visit Greece for my summer vacations, and I have also decided to learn to speak Greek as a 3rd language. I am looking forward to share with you my travel experiences and to help you with your travel plans. Possibly, in the near future, I'll be helping you with your Brazilian vacations as well!

 

 

While on your travels throughout Greece and Turkey, as a small group or an independent traveler, allow Asimina or Mina Gressis, for whom the company is named after, to be your reliable and knowledgeable guide. Mina is available as a host in Greece from April - October to welcome each one of our guests and to answer any questions you may have. Allow Mina's warm and outgoing personality to provide you with a tour of the Greek culture from the inside. Don't be surprised if you are asked out upon your arrival in Athens for a Greek Coffee meeting. As you walk throughout the markets and shopping areas, let Mina teach you about Greek spices, herbs and flavors. See Greek life the way it is meant to be lived slow, easy and FUN!

In the winter time, as a travel coordinator Mina shares her broad knowledge of Greece and Turkey and can help you plan extraordinary itineraries. During her off time you'll find Mina teaching authentic Greek cooking classes at Ouzo's (her own restaurant) in La Plata, Maryland or helping her husband's business A+ Tutor adjacent to our travel office.

Yep we made it back from Greece! We had a good trip. I was surprised by how mountainous Greece was...I wouldn't have guessed that before going. Santorini would be relaxing, and it could be, but we really gave ourselves a workout with lots of walking/hiking. The towns are pretty and the walks along the cliffs have spectacular views. The Astra was just perfect for us and we walked to Fira twice and Oia once... Yes we walked to Oia! But we took a cab back after eating fresh fish at the harbor.

Thank you for all the arrangements you made for our delightful experience. Greece is a very special place with many different beautiful sites. The people I found to be upbeat, happy and friendly. They received us so well. Sharing the experience with my family and friends back home, I think Greece will be in my future plans. Couldn't resist and made Greek salad today and potatoes with the Greek seasoning. Loved the food!!! I was able to get figs in Santorini......How delicious!!!!!! I was surprised that you can consume the whole fruit including the skin. Loved the wine in Santorini. Meteora was also something out of this world and very unique. You mother was very nice to call to find out how we were doing. She sounded so young!!!!!! Is she very young in spirit????? Sounds like a fun person to be with.

You are on my list of critical notes to send. And today my daughter forwarded the NY Times article on Crete. So I decided to write you immediately. We had the most amazing time on our tour of Greece. Your arrangements were splendid. Each hotel served us a great breakfast and was helpful with information needs. All the connections went smoothly. The most amazing combination I have to admit was the first fantastic breakfast on Santorini served on the rooftop deck with the most beautiful view of the harbor and other islands. The trip was everything that you promised. We had a wonderful time. The Athens hotel was very nice and convenient. Rhodes was fun for us, we stayed close to home and relaxed. Crete hotel was great, but a little rich at the restaurants, so we ventured out each night to find a local place for dinner. The highlight of the trip as you promised was Oia. Esperas House was just fantastic. The staff was wonderful and our accommodation was superb. We really just chilled in Thira. Up every morning for a walk through town before the tour buses arrived, back to our room for breakfast, reading, pool and sunbathing. A nap in the afternoon and then back to the streets for a bit of window shopping and dinner. We really enjoyed meeting a wonderful group of new friends (all much younger, newly married or just engaged) at Esperas. We are dying to take our sons there for a vacation. Thank you for all of your work and guidance. You made a wonderful trip and many great memories for us. Gratefully!!!!!

The trip was great!! My husband got to see all the things he wanted. The Plaka in Athens was fun. Went there a few times...day & night. The Classical tour was wonderful. Our tour guide, Irene (Erenie) was absolutely wonderful. So passionate about her country and just a very personable lady. I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting Greece. And of course the monasteries & nunneries were amazing. Istanbul is huge!! Our tour guide there, Fatiah, was again wonderful. Was very nice having only the 4 of us with him! Beautiful mosques. He took us to the spice market which was fun. We asked him about a belly dancing place in which we went and there was a dinner show and the "best belly dancer in Turkey". It was a very cool place. I'm not quite sure how that girl got her body to move the way she did. Simply amazing. We went to the pedestrian mall. Wall to wall people but was fun to be part of it. Thank you!

Our favorite restaurant in La Plata is Ouzo's. The daughter of the family who runs Ouzo's is a travel agent specializing in Greek island trips. Isn't that a perfect storm for a trip? Stella, the travel agent, put the whole package together for us and we had a wonderful time!
