Santorini is one of the famous Cyclades islands located in the Aegean Sea. It was devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC and forever shaping its unique landscape. The volcano at Santorini island is still active and perhaps its the only one in the world still at sea.

The famous whitewashed cube style houses located in the villages of Fira, Oia, Firostefani and Imerovigli are all perched on the edge of the cliffs known as the Caldera.  Other famous smaller villages around the island worth seeing are Akrotíri and Méssa Vounó, Pirgos, Karterádes, Emporió, Finikiá, Períssa, Perívolos, Megalohóri, Kamári, Messariá and Monólithos.  In addition the famous Akrotiri archaeological site and the nearby red beach are also worth seeing.  

A visit to Santorini is also the perfect gastronomic experience since the island is a true culinary paradise! Santorini is known for its traditional cherry tomatoes, fava bean, white egg plant, capers and caper leaves and the famous hloro cheese.  

Santorini island has a hot desert climate.  The warm season starts from June to September with average daily temperatures of about 27°C (80°F).  The most daily sunshine hours are in July.   The cold season is between December to April with average temperatures at about 17°C (62°F).
